The wedding is one week away. I only slept for four and a half hours last night. Jessica arrive at our apartment around 1am. Lulu also came by to stay over. There was a lot going on.
In between work and Jessica, I cleaned the floors and put new sheets on the beds and straightened up both of the guest rooms. Gavin and I also installed an air conditioner in one of the rooms so now we have one in the living room and guest room. Looking forward to getting ours in the bedroom too but that requires calling the landlord because we need a piece of wood and, right now, calling people like the caterer and DJ take priority.
I haven’t gotten a firm answer from Gavin on whether or not we will be taking a full week off after the wedding or just a long weekend and saving the vacation days for a longer trip in July, September or even December. So I took half the week off (Wed-Fri), since he really wants to spend time with his family at their new lake house on the Fourth of July. As for Monday and Tuesday, I’ve been just skirting the issue at work an being really vague about my availability. (I know, super responsible.)
Finally, our wedding favors arrived. Gavin put them together last night in between processing images from his 2-day shoot this week.
We still have no rings in hand but we should have them shortly. Gavin’s was shipped this week. Mine is with my mom. I just have to go get it. Jessica’s bridesmaid dress is also at my parents’ house. Minor details.
I’m so tired. My hair trial (part II) is happening tonight instead of last night. Once that’s over, I may just crash. There is a lot going on this Saturday. I need to sleep. Now I’m no longer a crazy person but a full-fledged zombie. (And no one wants to marry a zombie.)
Madison was super hot and panting so I gave her a cold shower s she wouldn’t overheat. She spent the next half hour drying herself off. Not sure if I helped her if you think in terms of energy expended in the level of effort post-shower.
I’m wearing Jessica’s shoes to work today. I might borrow them for the wedding actually. They’re quite nice. They’re also a turquoise-looking shade of blue.
I am so happy it’s Friday.
Last night, I designed and sent out our rehearsal dinner invites via email.
I also figured out how to check the voicemail on my iPhone. (I set this up some time ago when I got the 4GS but apparently there was some new feature added in my recent update of the iOS which caused there to be a password requirement in order to reactivate email. So I finally set the password and I regained access to my voicemail box. There were TWENTY-THREE messages to listen to. Yup.)
While we’re on the subject of “things I didn’t realize I had to do because I was doing other things,” I should mention that my contact lenses ran out. I realized this on Monday night. So I made an emergency order to 1-800-Contacts. They should ship this week but if not I’m going to an optometrist and requesting a trial pair because I am not wearing my glasses on my wedding day.
Since I have declared not just the wedding DAY but THE WEDDING WEEK a “do nothing” period of time for me, I’ve been trying to tie up all of the loose ends this week. That is my goal.
Therefore, emails for everyone: the priest, DJ, photographer, staff, hair/makeup and rental company (and Gavin, since we are also trying to schedule time for the both of us to go get that marriage license.)
I set up a registry on REI since Gavin wanted to add snowboarding stuff for us. So he’s been adding to that today. Not sure how many people will be checking a registry the week before but I guess it can’t hurt. Also, it was low level on my part so I figured why not. I sent him over the username and password and it was done.
JESSICA IS COMING TODAY!!! She’s getting in super late but I’ll get to see her since she’s spending her first night with us in NYC. SUPER PSYCHED.
(Continued from Part I)
The moms wore matching corsages.
Momma and I had corsages, too.
Momma helped me open the presents. Jessica organized them. Amy documented each and every one in a master list entitled,” Yay Presents!!”
Janice made an amazing hat out of all the bows from the presents.
(Second hat of the day.) I have a similar photo from when I was about two years old and sitting in a box with ribbons on my head. Nearly three decades later, apparently not that much has changed.
Almost all of my bridesmaids were there, which made it exceptionally fabulous.
And last but certainly not least… Gavin!! I was really glad that the guys didn’t get kicked out. I think it was fun to have them at the bridal shower.
Here are a couple of “behind the scenes” photos I got a hold of:
