First Soccer Win… Ever

Today I had a double dose of fitness and exercise. First, there was yoga (at a new studio, since we’re having some renovations right now at work.) I’m glad I went because I now feel much more grounded and remembered the muscles I use outside of just running.

Then, there was soccer. It was a late game. Our team scored our FIRST GOAL EVER. Super psyched about that. And I actually played the ball this time and did well. My usual strategy is to run directly at whatever player had the ball so that they’d get scared and mess up. (Yup. I may not be good but I am fast and also clumsy and I found a way to finally use this to my advantage.) I got to see Kris and Amy, too!

I’m so excited to be getting back into things now that the wedding is done. Gavin is waiting on his cleats from home before playing again. I can’t wait until he comes back to the soccer games with me. He went to the gym today and moved our memberships to the one that is closer (and air-conditioned.)

In other news, we’ve been catching up in Season 4 of Breaking Bad (when we can.) And projects. Gavin’s really overwhelmed with work this week in particular. Though super busy suddenly myself, I don’t feel nearly as swamped as I did when I also had the wedding stuff weighing on top of it all.

What I’m really looking forward to, in a nervously-excited sort of way, is the run this Saturday morning. My running group has scheduled an 15-mile run that is longer than anything I’ve ever done before. (Most distance that I’ve run at a time is 13.1 miles.)

Either the scale is broken

or I’m FIVE POUNDS away from my high school weight!

That’s the good news. The bad news is that I did it in entirely the wrong way: zero exercise and lots of chicken soup and rest. (I probably just lost a bunch of muscle mass which makes me really sad because I work hard to keep that stuff.)

Still not 100%. I worked from home today. This has been a really hard week. I think it’s actually the flu. BUT I’m trying to be positive, keep resting and get myself well ASAP. After all, there is a wedding to go to in less than 3 weeks.

In other exciting news, I joined the soccer team again for this summer. The games start this month but I’m going to be smart about it (and avoid injury), sitting on the sidelines until after Gavin and I are married.

Marathon Napping (Home Sick)

I stayed home today due to said cold. I feel like I got ran over by a bus. Hoping to get better soon.

Good thing I have the cats nearby to remind me not to do too much so that I can put all my focus on getting well.
