The 8 Truths About Weddings (That No One Ever Tells You)

This is why my sister-in-law rocks:

Besides lending out her wedding books and providing countless hours of advice (which is especially helpful because, as a seasoned veteran, she has a first-hand perspective), listening to me go on and on about every little decision that I can fathom Gavin and I will ever have to make, my super awesome sister-in-law has also been sending me fun articles, as well. Thanks for the support, sis!

Summer Reading List

I have read the following fifteen (hand-me-down) bridal-related material over the past 4 months (truth be told, the majority of the reading commenced during the period of about 2 weeks in which I chose to immerse myself in all things wedding. Not recommended for the feint of heart.):
– Bridal Bargains (both 2007 and 2009 Editions)
– 1000 Wedding Bargains
– Where to Seat Aunt Edna and 500 Other Great Wedding Tips
– Simply Stunning Weddings
– The Perfect Wedding Details
– Jo Gartin’s Weddings
– The Knot Complete Guide to Weddings
– Simply Stunning Wedding Flowers
– Wedding Chic (my favorite)
– The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner
– Buff Brides (It came with a DVD. Don’t ask.)
– The Ultimate Wedding Idea Book
– Undocumented number of bridal magazines (Brides, Modern Brides, The Knot, New York Bride, etc.)

I’m saving these ones for later:
– The Knot Guide to Wedding Vows and Traditions
– Words for the Wedding
– Wedding Readings

And the one I actually own myself- a gift from my mom- A Bride’s Book of Lists.

I now know more than I ever needed- or wanted- to know about weddings and yet I still feel like a complete newbie: awkward, uninformed and frightened as hell.
